Ana is an NKBA certified interior designer specializing in custom cabinetry & functional living.
ABOUT
Ana is the owner and founder of DH Design, a full service interior design company serving South Haven & Kalamazoo, MI.
A West Michigan native, Ana grew up surrounded by interior designers, builders & trades as she worked both in the field and at her family’s tile & stone showroom from a very young age. Some of her earliest design memories are around 12 years old, sitting at her dad’s computer building 3D homes using HomeDesigner while he worked on paperwork.
Her appreciation for details & design grew through many of these experiences, and led her to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Interior Design, specializing in Kitchens & Baths. That love for learning more about the industry has never stopped and, after completing the necessary testing and experience hours, she is CKBD certified by the National Kitchen & Bath Association.
Droomhuis Design was founded so that comprehensive attention to detail could be carried throughout your home. Styles, color pallets, textures, and functionality all starts not with a product specification or a single room, but with you! It is both a privilege and a joy to be entrusted with the task of helping establish your dream-house, or “droom-huis”, for you + those you love.
Common Questions
Is an Interior Designer different from an Interior Decorator?
Yes! Many people use the terms interchangeably, but the two professions are very different. Interior design is the science of helping clients create a functional room within the building, including the shape of a room's walls, floors, and doorways. A professional designer must understand interior architecture and work closely with architects and builders to design the interior space. Interior decorating, on the other hand, is the furnishing of a space with tasteful elements based on the client’s style. For example, an interior decorator may suggest changing the layout of the furniture, while a designer might investigate how multiple doorways are impacting the function of a living room.
Are you available during the weekends?
I love my clients, but unless it is an unusual emergency, weekends are for bike rides & breakfast dates with my family. I will promptly return your calls & emails on Monday.
I have an architect; do I need to hire you now?
The earlier the better. I love collaborating with your design team, and architects are at the top of the list. Being involved from the beginning means multiple brains working from different angles to tailor your project to your needs, right from the start. This means fewer adjustments down the road, making it easy and clear for everyone involved.
We have some furniture we love; can we keep it?
Absolutely! Incorporating special pieces into the design is what makes this home yours.
